Most of us really love God with all our hearts, but normally there so much stuff in our hearts that we can’t just love Him to the fullest. So until you give those things up to seek Him, you won’t find out how much He has for you.
Last week while I was interceding for homeless and poor people, God showed me something easy to understand: if I don’t have money for my food, I pray desperately asking God to provide it for me; but because I’ve always had it I never realize how much I really need to depend on Him.
And He challenged me.
He asked me to take a bus, go to the mountains, to this community I’ve been only once in the past, and spend a couple days there, taking no money with me but for transportation, and without telling anyone in that place that I was going.
It took me a lot of prayer and faith to believe that He was going to provide food and housing.
And yes He did!!!
It was a hard thing for me to ask someone to let me sleep in his house, when I’ve always had at least three places where I can lay my head. Ask someone to give me food, when I normally have three meals plus snacks back home.
I got there and after asking two people I finally found a house. During the afternoon I helped in the local library, and handed out some tracks to the kids that visited it. But later God showed me how He wanted me to focus more in His blessings than in any kind of ministry.
I was really afraid according to what I was going to eat, so I kept praying that God would provide food for me and by the end of the first night there I had already had four meals plus two cups of hot chocolate.
The next day came, and I went to a compassion centre where I helped some kids with homework and taught them some songs. After that I had lunch, a neighbour of the lady I was staying with made me eggplant – which I normally hate- but I gave thanks for it and ate it all.
I waited for a truck to take me to the next community, where a bigger challenge was waiting for me.
